Nigerian Government Condemn The Deportation And Torture of 723 Nigerians





Nigeria Government has express concern over the deportation and toturing of 723 Nigerians on allegations of illegal stay, cybercrime and prostitution.

In a statement made by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs spokesman, George Edokpa on Friday in Abuja said the Federal Government disapprove of the toturing and inhuman act of its citizens by the Ghanian authorities

And also the Nigerian High Commissioner to Ghana Michael Abikoye at a meeting with Comptroller-General of the Ghana Immigration Services (GIS) in Ghana described the deportation of Nigerians by the Ghana Authority as inappropriate.

He stated that ”Although the GIS had relate cybercrime and prostitution as some of the reasons for deportation, but it's improper to deport Nigerians for alleged illegal stay in Ghana.

He reminded Ghana of the Economic Community of West Africa States (ECOWAS) protocol on free movement of persons to migrate to the various member nations without necessary valid documents.

He also said: ”There are several Ghanaians living in Nigeria and the Nigeria Immigration Service has never deported any of them on the ground of illegal stay, because of the brotherliness between our countries”.

Abikoye warned that any maltreatment of Nigerians will not be tolerated by the Nigerian Government.
